Listing/Obeying Your Parents

Hannah from Christianlife429 has requested a post about listening to your parents! I also think that this falls under obeying your parents too!

Here are some scriptures about listing/obeying your parents:

Ephesians 6:1
Children, obey your parents in the LORD: for this is right. Children, obey your parents in the LORD: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

From this passage, we can learn the following:

  1. Children are to obey their parents–that is, both mother and father.
  2. They are to obey their parents “in the Lord.” This phrase contains a couple of ideas. First, to obey their parents is to obey the Lord. By obeying them “in the Lord” they are also in obedience to the Lord. The reverse is also true. To disobey their parents is to disobey the Lord. Second, this passage gives guidance to those dealing with wicked parents or parents that would lead the child into sin. If they are to be obeyed in the Lord, then obedience is not absolutely required if they are asked to do something that is in direct disobedience to God. For instance, if the child is told to steal something by one of his parents and the child knows that this is a sin against God, the child may refuse to obey this commandment. As you can understand, this usually deals with older children with ungodly parents. Even then, the instances are unusual.
  3. They are to obey their parents because it is right. They are not simply to obey because of fear or necessity. As they grow in the Lord, they should learn to obey because it is the desire of God and it is the right thing to do.
  4. They are to honor their father and mother. This goes beyond obedience It means to hold high; it means to give a special place of respect. Obedience will be the result of such honor, but obedience can be performed without honor.
  5. The command for children to honor their parents is one of the ten commandments and it is the first of the commandments that had a special promise attached to it. The promise is twofold: that “it may be well with thee” refers to the quality of life while “thou mayest live long on the earth” refers to the quantity of life. The children who honor their parents will have a better life and a longer life. Does this mean that all these children will live to 90 and beyond? Of course not. But they will extend the length of their life and improve the quality of their life by their honor and obedience.

There are too many verses to give a further survey, but one parallel verse deserves a mention.

Colossians 3:20 states, “Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the LORD.” In this verse we learn that God is pleased when children obey their parents. The child who minds Mom or Dad gets a big smile from God. What a blessing is this matter of obedience! (I got all this from a website, click here to read it on the site.)

Now I know that you don’t want to obey your parents all the time! You may even get mad at them for telling you something! Well let me tell you that they LOVE sooooooooo much that what they tell you is for your own good!! They don’t want to hurt you so they tell you to do things to help you! Now they may tell you to clean your room(who likes doing that?), but the reason they tell you that is so you: one don’t trip on your toys and get hurt, two you learn how to be responsable for the thinks that you have. So what ever they tell you is for your good! you’ll thank them one day(I know you may be thinking “Yeah right!”) but you will trust me!!!!!!!!! GOD also gave us parents to teach us HIS ways before we start learning on our own!!!!!!

Here are some more scriptures on listing/obeying your parents:

Exodus 20:12
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Exodus 20:12
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your GOD is giving you.”

Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your GOD has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your GOD is giving you.

Colossians 3:20
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the LORD.

Leviticus 20:9
‘For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.

Proverbs 13:1
A  wise son heeds his father’s instruction, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

Proverbs 51:5
A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.

If you don’t listen/obey your parents then how do you think that you will listen/obey GOD?

Proverbs 6:20-23
20) My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. 21) Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. 22) When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. 23) For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life.

Proverbs 4:20-27
20) My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21) Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22)  For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. 23) Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 24) Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. 25)  Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26) Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. 27) Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.

The first edit was not good so here you go. Sorry about that. #disneyfriendshipcollab David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
- 1 Samuel 30:6 AMPC

This verse as meet a lot to me in the past year!!!! I love the last part where it says that "David encouraged and strengthened himself on the Lord his God!!!!!!!!" For many reasons this has stayed with me.

1) David knew that he needed the Lord. No matter what came his way he looked to God!!!! He went to Him and praise Him!!! He worshiped Him!!!! He got alone with Him!!!!!! David had the right idea!!!!! No matter what we are going through we need to look to God!!!!! He has all the answers. I mean come on, if Hr could send Him One and only Son to die for us. Do you not think He has all the answers we need? Yes He does. The question now is, are we going to look to Him or others for the answer?
2) So David also strengthened himself in the Lord!!!! Again with the waiting and spending time with God!!!!! We need to do that as well.
3) This one has hit me hard over the past few months. Did you see that David encouraged himself in the Lord? It didn't say that his friends encouraged him. It didn't say that his family encouraged him. It didn't say, and the list could go on. But he encouraged himself in the Lord.

Sometimes when we are in a fight it can be hard. Believe me I know. But you have to remember that not all the time is there going to be someone there to help you. You have to know how to encourage yourself. Yes it may be hard and hurts at times but we have to do it. How do you encourage yourself you may ask? Here are a few ways: · Worship the Lord in music · Read the Word of God to yourself
· Pray ( not about the problem but about the victory you already have)
· Tell yourself what the Word of God says

Those are a few ways.

So if you are in that fight right now, just start worshiping God! If your not there still worship Him. Get yourself in the mood to start that at anytime!!!! #Devo #scripture #bible #bibleverse #bibleverses #cool #yesLord Happy Independence Day Everyone!!!!!!! I pray you all have a blessed day!!!!! We need to remember the ones that are serving to keep the USA free!!! Also we need to remember that we have freedom through Jesus as well!!!!! We are free!!!!!! So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.
- John 8:36 AMPC

#July4th #Independanceday #HappyIndependanceday #Happy4thofjuly Suicide:

What makes a person think of suicide?? Loneliness, heartbreak, heartache, rejection, abuse(physical, mental, emotional, verbal, psychologically), bulling, not worth it, ext!

Did you know that there is on average a 121 suicides a day? About 13.26 per 100,000 people.

That is sad!!!!! How many of them are Christians? How many of them are school kids? How many of them are ones that are "not wanted"? How many???? The list could go on!!!!!! Stop and think about it. The person you are sitting next to could be thinking about it. At work, school, walking down the street or even church. Yes church! Do you know that Christian have the same thoughts as well?
Is if fun to think these thoughts? NO!!!! Is it your fault? NO!!!!!!!! Is there hope? YES!!!!!! Is there something wrong with you? NO!!!!!!!!! Can't you get free and out of it? YES!!!!!!! There is hope for you. You can be set free!!!!! That is what Jesus did for you!!!!! But do you know what? People don't talk about this. People don't look for help cause they think that it shameful. The shouldn't think this way or try to do it. People look down on people that think this way. It is hard.

But what would happen if we as the body of Christ would listen up. What would happen if we payed attention? What would happen if you got so close to God that He would let us know that someone was thinking about it? What would happen?

There is hope for them just like there is hope for us. I want to be able to help them. I want to see them smile again. I want to see them laugh again. But you know what? Do you know who wants that more then anything? God!!!!!!! He wants that. It makes Him sad to see people kill themselves.
So as a believer: I want to make a stand and help them. There is hope, help, peace, comfort, but more important! Love for them. Let us show them love and let them see Jesus in us.
That is my prayer!!!!!! #thinking #journaling #lifepost #Jesus #God #love #peace #joy #comfort #reallife #realtalk When life gets hard, pray harder!
When life gets crazy, read the Word more.

Life is not the best but not the worst. It all depends on your point of view.
We need to be reading the Word and praying everyday. But sometimes we have things that come up and it can be hard. But that is when we trust Him and let Him lead us.
Don't get upset, frustrated, angery, bitter, ext. Just give it to God and obey.

Okay so I'm learning this right now. My life is not perfect but I'm learning. The more I read the Word the more I realize how much I don't know. But it is best to listen and obey. I have disobeyed but we learn from it. What satan wants for a deaator God can turn for glory. It may hurt but do. Just obey, it may seem hard but in the long run it will work out.
I love all of you!!!! DM is always open. If you need prayer, talk, ext. I'm here for you!!! God bless
