Today I’m going to talk about sacrifice’s for GOD! Have you ever heard the story of Isaac, Abraham’s son? Lets read the story about how GOD told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.
“vs1) Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!” God called. “Yes,” he replied. “Here I am.” vs2) “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” vs3) The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. Then he chopped wood for a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had told him about. vs4) On the third day of their journey, Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. vs5) “Stay here with the donkey,” Abraham told the servants. “The boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back.” vs6) So Abraham placed the wood for the burnt offering on Isaac’s shoulders, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them walked on together, vs 7) Isaac turned to Abraham and said, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “We have the fire and the wood,” the boy said, “but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?” vs 8)“God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered. And they both walked on together. vs 9) When they arrived at the place where God had told him to go, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. Then he tied his son, Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood. vs10) And Abraham picked up the knife to kill his son as a sacrifice. vs11) At that moment the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!” vs12) “Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.” vs13) Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. vs14) Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”vs 15) Then the angel of the Lord called again to Abraham from heaven. vs16) “This is what the Lord says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that. vs 17) I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies. vs 18) And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me.” vs 19) Then they returned to the servants and traveled back to Beersheba, where Abraham continued to live.” (NLT)
One day a few years back I was thinking and talking out loud to myself (reminding myself of the story) about what Abraham did. While I was talking and thinking the LORD gave me a revelation. He told me that, “As a CHRISTIAN you have to give thinks up in order to obey Me and follow Me!” Now when He gave me this revelation I was going through the time in my life that I was watching TV shows He would NOT approve of. (To see the full story go to my post about “Garbage In, Garbage Out.” https://teenfaith777.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/garbage-in-garbage-out/)
I was thinking that I had to give things up as a CHRISTIAN so that my walk with the LORD is going to be right! Sure I admit that it wasn’t easy but with the LORD’S help and prayers and help from family and friends I made it. Sure I also admit that the temptation for watching those shows has tried to come back. But I say NO and start spending more time with GOD!!!!!!
I found some scriptures that talk about turning away from sin. Lets look at them.
Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone. (NLT)
Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sins. (NLT)
2 Chronicles 7:14-15
vs14 Then if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. vs15 My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. (NLT)
Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. (NLT)
I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You. (NLT)
I also found out that sin causes sickness.
My health is broken because of my sins. (NLT)
So I have learned to obey GOD NO matter what He tells me!!!! I have made sacrifices and it may have hurt at the time. But I know that in the end it will pay off!!!! the LORD is still working on getting some things out of my life!!!!
Is there anything that you need to get out of your life?
♥GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND KEEP YOU ALL SAFE♥
